Direction is offered on a sliding scale. Nobody is turned away.
One-to-one spiritual direction

Someone to pay attention with you.

Direction is not advice and it is not counselling. It is a regular hour with one person who listens to your life and helps you notice what is already happening in it.

How direction works
The shape of it

Three steps, then a rhythm.

You say what you need

Answer five questions, in your own words if you want to. You get a reading back with one place to begin — free, whether or not you go further.

We talk for thirty minutes

No charge and no obligation. It exists so we can both work out whether I am the right person for you, and say so plainly if I am not.

Then a rhythm, if you want one

An hour, roughly monthly. You set the pace and you can stop at any point without explaining yourself.

One-to-one

An hour, once a month.

Direction runs on a simple rhythm: one hour, roughly monthly, by video or in person. You talk about your life and your prayer. I mostly listen, and ask about the places you move past quickly.

There is no curriculum and no homework beyond what you decide on yourself. Most people stay a year or two. Some stay much longer. Ending is a normal outcome, not a failure.

Everything else

Things to work through on your own.

Retreats, written guides, and practices you can keep without booking anything.

From people who stayed

What it actually did.

I expected to be told what to do. Instead I got asked the same question three months running until I finally answered it honestly.

M., two years in direction

I came in after my father died and could not pray at all. Nobody tried to fix that. It came back on its own, about a year later.

J., still going

Shared with permission. These are individual experiences and are not a promise of any particular outcome.

Who you would be sitting with

About me

Write this yourself and write it plainly. Say how you came to this, what you trained in, what tradition you stand in, and what you are not qualified to help with. In this work the specifics are the credential.

Before you ask

The awkward questions.

Do I have to believe anything in particular?

Answer this honestly on your own site. It is the question that decides whether people trust you, and a vague answer reads as a dodge.

Is this therapy?

No. Direction is not counselling, psychotherapy, or medical care, and it is not a substitute for any of them. Plenty of people do both. If something comes up that needs clinical help, I will say so and help you find it.

What if I cannot afford it?

State your sliding scale here in real numbers. Vague generosity helps nobody actually ask.

What if I stop believing halfway through?

That is a normal thing to bring, not a reason to leave. Doubt is ordinary material here.

No cost, no account

Start by saying what you need.

Five questions, two minutes. You get one clear place to begin, and you are free to take it and go.
